Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below shows time slots reserved and not confirmed exams. Check with your instructor if the course will have its final exam in this period.
Be sure to read all the Goethe exam terms and conditions and guidelines on each exam's webpage prior to making a decision to register. Also, be sure to make sure you register at the correct exam level.
Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Exam pages for each exam are available for additional guidelines, terms and conditions and exam information. If you need special accommodations because of chronic disease, visual or hearing impairment, or any other disability, contact the exam provider and provide the documentation when registering.

The Faculty Dashboard in Workday has the option of "View My Teaching Schedule" that allows faculty to find their exam schedules. The Registrar's Office also has a schedule of exam times for the classes that must be tested under NYSED regulations. For evening classes, final exams are scheduled at the normal class time during the final exam week.
Please note that the Projected University Examination Schedule is only a guideline and that final exam dates are subject to change.
Registration
The exam schedule is accessible online and students are encouraged to review it. However, it is important to note that the exam schedule may change at any time. This is why students should consult their instructors to ensure that they have the correct date and time for their exam. Students should also make certain to print the official list and bring it to their exam.
In addition to the exam schedule, students must familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines, the terms and conditions. They are available on the exam's individual page. After registering, students acknowledge that they accept these terms and conditions.
Exam locations make every effort to accommodate participants who have special requirements. The nature and extent of these needs must be noted on the registration and confirmed by a physician's attestation. The locations for the exam must adhere to confidentiality.
If a student has three examinations scheduled on the same day, it is suggested to contact their department or instructor to arrange a make-up exam. Although it is possible to take three exams in a single day, it can result in high stress levels and could impact the quality of the exam. The professor may not be able to give an opportunity to take a makeup test on a different day.
Students should review their course materials prior to taking the exam and must practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test that measures your ability to read and write German. The test results are given using a scale of A1 to C2. Students who successfully pass the test receive an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has attained the level of A1 in their language. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competency that is outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free. Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to be awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you will need to pay the exam fee. This is in addition to the course fee.
Practice tests let you get a feel for the style, wording, and difficulty of the questions on the test. They help you assess your knowledge, spot gaps and improve your chances of acing the exam.
Please note that the exam fee is not refundable. Exam results are only emailed and not via telephone.
